Leroy started his career in ‘69 with the group “THE SYMPHONICS “, that later became GOD’S GIFT TO WOMEN, which in 1972 recorded “ Let Your Heart Be The Judge“, which still gets air play more than thirty years later. In the early 80’s Leroy started the group” The Perfect Timin Band”, which backed BO WILLIAMS, while touring with Cameo, and Gerald Levert. Perfect Timin also opened for New Edition, Baby Face, Roger Troutman & Zapp, to name a few. In the 80’s Leroy toured  as a member of The J. King and Club Nuevo Band.  In 2013, Leroy Allen has started a solo project with the new hit single “I WANT IT “, receiving heavy rotation in the Southern United States and European Markets. Mr. Allen recently formed “OrionThe Band” which consists of top musicians from the Houston area, creating the foundation for the “I Want It” Project.
In Leroy’s words, “In the year of 2013 if God says the same, I want to dedicate majority of my time, to my solo career”.

Evette has been singing since she could talk, but professionally for a little over 20 years. She started singing in her church choir at Hopewell Missionary Baptist church. It is there where her 1st band leader discovered her in church and convinced her to join his band. Since then she has become “Houston’s Best Kept Secret”. She has become a permanent fixture in and outside of Houston. Performing in clubs, weddings, festivals and corporate events. Audiences not only love her for being talented but for her friendly and approachable disposition. She has performed with many of the local bands in Houston, she is now one of the voices of “Orion the Band”. Her style is eclectic and her range is vast. She can go from beautiful soft ballads to the hardest driving R&B, she does pop, blues and country. Evette has a style of her own but  has been influenced by some of the great voices of our time; such as Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker and Patti Labelle, Mariah Carey, Gladys Knight among others, now with Orion the Band, The Next Big Thing Is HERE!


Roderick Kennedy - Music Director & Keyboardist


Education is foremost with Rod – his extensive career in public education as Band Director (Houston’s Daniel Ortiz Middle School) has produced students that develop and excel in the full understanding of every note from theory to award winning performances. This native Houstonian has ensured that his city is filled with “up and coming” musical talent.

Rod brings over 20 years of professional musical training and experience to this phenomenal group. Classroom to stage, backing such notables as the Temptations’ Ollie Woodson, Yarborough & Peebles and the Mickey Blue Band is an easy transition for multi-talented musician. His thirst for learning has allowed him to master the keyboards and vocals lending that special touch to the Orion the Band repertoire. Check out the Maestro at work!

Adrian "Papa Funk Clarke - Bass Guitar

Native Houstonian, Adrian “Papa Funk” has reached the melodic heartbeat of Houston’s musical community for more than 20 years. Son of Houston trombonist, Lavern Clark, his talent comes naturally - orchestra to quartet, this professional is at home in any setting. Houston has enjoyed this bass guitarist as a member several local groups including the Conrad Johnson Quartet and The Click, etc.

Papa Funk” reaches our soul with his way down low beat, this bassist is truly the heartbeat of the Orion the Band – he keeps the audience pumping and ready for more!


Larry Buffer - Silky Sax

Larry’s silky smooth sax exudes his multicultural experiences. Alabama born, this versatile musician has mastered his craft while residing in Japan, England, Korea and California. You’ll hear the influences of Reggae, Light and Straight Ahead Jazz in his mellow blow. Larry’s 25 year professional career has allowed him to skillfully blend soul, skill and experience to develop his own distinctive style.

While relaxing Larry enjoys the sounds of fellow sax man Grover Washington, Jr. Larry compliments the exemplary musicianship of each member of Orion the Band. Sit back … let Larry’s smooth vibe transcend you to musical wonderland!
